Thing 14

I am confused about the difference between a bookmark and favorites. I use favorites all the time - it is quick and easy to add new ones and delete ones I don't use anymore. How is bookmark different? Does it actually show the website on screen, rather than just list the url?
Delicious is a nice site and might be very convenient to use.

Thing 13

Does Tagging belong in the library? How can it complement our subject headings?
Well, I still think if tagging as the gang graffiti that appears every Monday morning on the portables at our school.
I first heard about this 'new' tagging at a workshop this year. I guess it could be applied to complement the subject headings we use in the library. I'll have to keep thinking on this one. Sometimes the words aren't really subjects though, are they?

Thing 12

I last heard about Twitter today when I accessed Storiebook Cafe's website in Glen Rose. She had a box with Twitters so you could read and catch up on who had Twittered whom.

My close friends don't Twitter, so I don't really see a need for it at this point. Do I need my friends to know where I am or what I'm doing? I don't really think so. If I need a friend, I call them or email them.

Thing 10

Yea! Finally a 'Thing' I have used before with my nephew - IM.
I was glad to get the chat abbreviations list so that I can understand his messages!
Still not sure what the point is. I'm used to emailing and find that suits my needs for now.

Thing 10

Just looked at Ning.com and browsed the features.

Things 8 and 9

I created a Facebook account and looked up several high school classmates. Very interesting. Now I'm planning to add 3 groups as requested in Thing 9. Not sure what groups I want to join - TLA and ALA???

Thing 7

RSS Feeds - I understand the concept, but I can't think of any URLs I go to on a regular basis to get information. I had trouble deciding what to submit for my reader account. I'll have to think some more on this one....
I am very glad to know what RSS means - Real Simple Syndication
I had heard it a lot and now I know...
